Nudge: Reminders & Follow-ups for Jira

Jira has no built-in way to say "remind me about this later". Nudge adds it: remind yourself or your team about any work item, at the right time, with zero setup.

Set a reminder

  1. Open any work item. In the right-hand panel, open Reminders.
  2. Click New reminder.
  3. When: choose a preset (In 1 hour, Tomorrow at 9:00, In 3 days at 9:00, Next Monday at 9:00) or Pick a date and time. Times use your Jira time zone (profile → Personal settings).
  4. Who: Me, Assignee (whoever is assigned when the reminder fires), Watchers, and/or up to 20 people.
  5. Optionally add a message and choose a repeat: every day, every weekday, every week or every month.
  6. Leave Stop when the work item is resolved on to stop automatically once the work is done.
  7. Click Set reminder.

Reminders are checked every 5 minutes, so an email arrives within about 5 minutes of the chosen time.

See and manage your reminders

For Jira admins

Jira settings → Apps → Reminders settings: untick projects where reminders should be off.

FAQ

Who can receive a reminder?

Only people who can see the work item. Jira checks permissions when sending.

Why didn't a reminder send?

It stops when the work item is resolved (if that option is on) or deleted. It's marked Failed if Jira rejects it 3 times in a row.

Does data leave Atlassian?

No. Nudge runs on Atlassian Forge with no external servers, and emails are sent by Jira itself. See the privacy policy.
